WOW!
Hi, my name is Dinah. I have sailed twice with SALTS and absoloutly LOVED it. I was on trip 3 aboard the Grace this year ( it was amazing to see pictures other then my own for once!) and trip 2 aboard the Grace the year before. I think this website is absoloutly amazing Scott. It blows me away at how well you can represent the emotions i find indescribable, with this site. I believe we have met...very briefly, when the Grace came in to the shipyard at the end of trip 5 this year. I was aboard just helping clean up, and i remember meeting someone named Scott...But i could be totally off...anyways!
I just wanted to say that i love the site and if i had a digital camera or a scanner, i would post my pictures for you...if you know of any other ways...i would be happy to. Thanks again for doing an amazing job, and bringing back memories and tears to my eyes. As Adam said, this will help me with my SALTS obsession...it can be my during-the-year-substitute, for the real thing. Thanks a lot! xo Dinah |

Re: WOW!
Iīm starting to be overwhelmed by all the wonderful messages! Iīm so glad that this site seems to be as much a joy for others as it is for me!
Iīm not really sure how well I am representing any emotions though, just giving us all a place for those emothons, memories, and community to blossom and grow. It is an indescribably experience, true, but once youīve been out on one trip itīs in you forever - this is just an outlet ;) as for your photos - I can think of 2 ideas, 1) you could get re-prints and send them to me and I can scan them - but 2) I expect if you went to London Drugs or some such place they will scan them for just about the same as getting the re-prints done (I wouldnīt want you to send me your origionals - just in case) and Iīm so busy right now the first option might take a while ;) We would love to see the photos though! In the mean time - have any good storys from your trip? the stories section of the forum is always eager for more... In any regard, Iīm thrilled that you like the site, and also glad to see so many others with similar "obsessions" :) --

Re: WOW!
Dinah - You could also ask around if any of your friends have a scanner. Thatīs a free way of getting them scanned... good luck with getting your pics up! I canīt wait to see some more :) Itīs so much fun seeing the enjoyment and thrill of peopleīs expressions on their faces in the pics, it truly is an obsession.

Re: Sailing on the Spirit!
Hello, Iīm new to the site. My son found my pictures of my trip with SALTS on the Spirit of Chemanius I think in 86 or 87. Sbaker, you may know, on the trip the Pobertson II coming out of port, ran aground and they had to put all the traines and crew on the main boom and tried to rock it off. Anyway, Master Anderson was the captain at the time and I had a blast. Iīm going to get my pics set up to post them, I would love to get in touch with any others on the voyage and swap stories.

Re: WOW!
I looked up the company and called, the secretary told me the ship was under contract and didnīt know how long it would still be there. She said that if I cam down to call and she would let me know if it was still there. A lot of fond memories that are still fresh in my mind and evey time I sail, and see a old ship, I think about that summer.

Awesome (Pacific Swift 1998)
Hello,
I just discovered this site when I realized a friend from classes at University of Calgary was wearing a SALTS shirt and rekindled all those memories! I posted some photos I wanted to share: Iīm sorry they are such a bad scan job - this IS from 1998 weīre talking about here... It would be awesome to hear from other people onboard including the crew, sometimes I wonder because maybe there are some MORE people at University of Calgary! |
