To display the most recent article in a particular news category (or from all categories) use the [news]<id>[/news] construction.

The <id> is an integer and specifies the category id by which to restrict the selection. To select from all categories use a 0 instead of a positive integer.

The other option is to specify a display format by modifying the construct as follows:

[news=display]<id>[/news]

Where display is either "summary" "summary.vertical" or "blog" this will cause the display to be generated in the format specified.


examples:

[news]1[/news] - displays the most recent article from category 1
[news]0[/news] - displays the most recent article on the site
[news=blog]2[/news] - displays (in blog format) the most recent article from category 2
