Repeating event are used to avoid the repetitive task of entering the same information for a series of events that occur at the same times over a period of days or every so often for a period of time.

It is a common mistake to enter a single event rather then a repeating event for something like a 5 day conference that starts at 8am and ends at 5pm each day. This should be entered as a repeating event not as a single one event that starts at 8am on the first day and ends at 5pm on the last.

Using the example of a 5 day conference:
Enter the first day as if it was just a single event. Starting at 8am and ending at 5pm. Enter all the supporting information likt it´s name, description, etc...

Next, specify that it is a repeating event that repeats every 1 - day(s) and ends at 5pm on the fifth day.

The system will create 5 separate but linked events that accurately display on the calendar for each day in question.
