CCGA & Wooden Boat Festival

Spent a lovely hour and a half last night out training for the CCGA. Estimating distances and verrifying them against the RADAR. There were only three of us on the Boat, but it was a surprisingly difficult exercise. We would try to position the Boat exactly a specified distance off some nav aid or point of land (1 Cable, 300ī, 150ī etc...) all on-board would guess if the Helmsman had gone too close, too far, or was really close and then we would verrify with the RADAR. In general it was easier at About 300+ feet so gauging the 1 Cable distance was usually within 25ī but close in we were way off most of the time - go figure.

Also, the Wooden Boat Festival is now being promoted on our local radio station (thanks to Wives and Fathers...) Kellei knows the news director and my dad recorded the spots. Itīs now only a few days away and we are really stepping up promotions. The weather forecast is looking very positive and everyone is getting very excited. Our final org. meeting is tonight and then itīs only 2 days before we start setup on Friday Morning.

As always Check the festival web site at http://www.scwoodenboat.ca for complete details (Iīll have the radio spots posted there soon too)
