Construction Overlow Error
I wonder what life would be like if other industries expressed errors and mistakes in the same way that software does - for example our new patio doors that were cut to the wrong length for the jam - is this an Overflow Error? or perhaps just a Type Mismatch?Just to give the necessary background - we are replacing some really pathetic sliding doors that were installed upside down and backwards when our house was built with new (much better) French double-doors. We got two sets, one for the kitchen and the other for the bedroom - Kitchen open-in and vice cersa for the bedroom. Thus the doors are different lengths and the gaps happen to be different sizes - unfortunately that accidentally swapped the cut lengths at the factory - so neither set of doors fit the Frames :(
We have the new doors now and will be replacing them today - but in prepping for this blog it did get me to thinking About computer error terminology and contrasting that with the rest of the world.
So here is todayīs list of lifeīs mishaps expressed in computer terms:
NSF Cheque - Stack Underflow
Stroke - Kernel Panic
Rape - Mal ware
Plugged Drain - Stack Overflow
Alzheimerīs - Out of Memory Error
Peeing Pants - General Protection Fault
Lost Keys - Access Denied
Government Bureaucracy - Any Micr$oft Windows fill bar
Murder - Fatal Exception Error
Nausea - Internal Error
So - tell me your thoughts - Iīd love to collect some more of these...
