A Day in Poole

We had a bit of a lie-in today (quite a bit of one actually) to recover from the trip and then spend the day walking through Poole and getting to know the area...

We were both fairly surprised at the number of people and how much of a tourist-trap the "Poole Quay" is. I think we were both expecting some a bit less touristy - but we found a quiet pub a bit out of the way for lunch and managed to explore the town a bit. It was a very nice walk into town from the hotel - we encountered the swans right across the īdual carriage-wayī from the hotel.

After a walk through town we went to Piplers of Poole on a hunt for new Guernseys - we found one for Kellei but unfortunately they were out of my size so that hunt continues. We also picked up a local Chart - our plan is to get the local Chart from each of the ports we visit as a souvenir that has a bit more meaning.

We strolled down the Quay a bit and visited the Pool Lifeboat Station Museum - complete with itīs wooden lifeboat. This should be an interesting contrast to our tour of the RNLI tomorrow.
