New Crew Check Ride
What a wonderful day out on the water. After what seems like weeks of thick fog, today was a beautiful day - sun with some building cumulous in the distance and a 5-10kn wind from the NW - a perfect day for training.Kellei and I took out Adam - a new member for our CCGA unit and very keen. We went through all the vessel safety checklist points and gave the CCGA Boat a complete once-over. Then it was off for some time on the water to give Adam a chance to get a feel for the Boat and try his hand at the Helm.
As usual we ran through a few man Overboard drills to practise crew communications and our SAP procedure. Then Adam got a chance to try out being the Helmsman - he did splendidly and we all had a great time in the process.
Kellei and I returned to the Boat house to find the Marina owner and his family working to add our much needed power hookup and repair some īwonkyī decking. Not too shabby for a Saturday out on the water!
